Hoping someone can help me understand all this. I got laid off last year and lost health insurance, so I applied and was approved for free insurance through the state while I was on unemployment. Once I started making some money again at a part time job, I had to pick a plan through the state so I did. My part time job then turned into a full-time job and my employer technically offered me health insurance but asked that I don’t use it since they’d have to pay. At the time, I was getting a discount on my current health insurance premium because I had such a low income, so I was paying ~$190/month. So I said okay and denied the health insurance offer since it wasn’t too costly. Then the insurance plan premium jumped to ~$370/month which became a significant payment that I wasn’t aware would happen. I realized I shouldn’t have tried to help out my company by not accepting the health plan offer because I couldn’t actually afford it, but then I couldn’t enroll still. Then, my credit card number changed and my auto payment stopped going through and I lost coverage.

I want to be covered, but open enrollment doesn’t start for months and I don’t see any options to get coverage since I technically didn’t have any qualifying life events apart from being stupid. What can I do to get coverage or who can I talk to about getting financial advice?
