Health Insurance Australia – How do I get my surgery covered?

Question – Insurance

I have had private health insurance for a few years. I have never made a claim.

I have Bronze hospital cover with NIB.

I don't understand the process.

A couple of years ago I needed my IUD removed/replaced because it was sitting wrong. So went to gynecologist and sorted it out. Because the gyno didn't work at a hospital, and worked at a building in city it wasn't covered. But if she did work from the hospital some of it would have been covered? Or did I misunderstand?

Now I am certain I have wisdom teeth that need to be removed. I looked at my policy. It says I have dental surgery covered as part of my hospital cover. The example they used for dental surgery was for wisdom teeth.

I went to dentist a couple of months ago and dentist said I have wisdom teeth coming through. Now I have pain..

What is my next step. Do I go to my doctor and get a referral to someone else? Or do I go to my dentist for a referral.

What is the process from now?
