Guidance Needed: Handling Delayed Medical Claims After Insurance Policy Expiry

Hello experts in the insurance field, I am seeking your advice or suggestions on the following matter:
My parents made a trip from India to the U.S., and I took the IMG Gold insurance plan for their journey, which was effective from June to mid-July. Unfortunately, my father experienced a fall leading to a fractured hand in mid-June. Following this incident, I had to rush him to the emergency room. He has since returned to India for continued treatment.
As of now, the hospital has not filed a claim with the insurance company. I am concerned that if the claim is submitted after the expiration of the policy, it might be declined. I am unsure of the protocol in such a scenario.
Could you please advise me on the best course of action? Specifically, would it be beneficial to extend the insurance policy for a few more months? I appreciate any insights or recommendations you can provide.
