Graduating, Dependent, Out of State: I have no idea where to start

Background: I am a CA state resident going to school in NY. I have been on my father's employee insurance at Kaiser in CA and had insurance through my university in NY. I am planning to become a NY resident as soon as I can figure out how.

I am graduating and my university coverage ends on 8/15/2023. My father also just retired and my coverage through him ends in September. I am a dependent and my household income was well above the limits for Medicaid before my dad's retirement. I will not be able to get insurance through employment for a while. I am also on medication that needs to be continuously taken so I cannot have a big gap (>1 month) in my coverage.

Questions: How and where do I get health insurance? Do my circumstances allow me to enroll outside of the open period? Can I qualify for Medicaid and if so, do I need to get my residency sorted first? Would it be better/easier for me to get private insurance (price notwithstanding)?

ETA: I turn 22 on 8/14 and I am located in NY in Dutchess County. I have looked on healthcare.gov and nystateofhealth.ny.gov but I am definitely in way over my head.
