Got a job offer with a much worse medical insurance plan than my current plan, should I look into supplemental health insurance plans to cover the gaps? My wife is going through cancer treatments.

So I was extended a job offer with a company that have great projects and job security. However, I must be a contractor through their head-hunting agency for the first 9 months. The agency has average health insurance options (either BlueCross BlueShield Basic or High Deductible
Comprehensive Plan BCBS HDCP). The BCBS HDCP would be our preferred option as at least it has some out-of-network coverage. My medical plan at my current company is Anthem PPO.

My wife is going through multiple treatments for her stage-4 colorectal cancer, thus the worser plan at the new company will end up costing us at least $5000 just for prescription drugs/medical deductible before any coverage by the HDCP. We already passed the $3750 individual out-of-pocket maximum limit with our current Anthem PPO plan by end of last January, so my wife's treatment has been pretty affordable for us since then.

My question is if there is a supplemental insurance plan that may help bring this maximum deductible cost down, and provide better coverage. My general experience has been cheaper medical plans have higher possibility of denying some scans, treatments unless we protest their deny multiple times. My priority is to avoid any delays in my wife's treatments.

Here is the link that contains screenshots of the two plans. First one is my current Anthem PPO plan. Second is the HDCP being offered by the agency.
