Gap Health Insurance until new insurance kicks in?

My wife recently accepted a new job within a school district. The new job has a different set of health insurance options that will trigger open enrollment. Her start date for the new role is 1/1/24.

She is currently on my insurance through the end of the year but will be switching to the new insurance provided by her employer as of 2/1. The issue is that because our current insurance runs through the end of this year, she will lose coverage on 1/1 and be uncovered for all of January. She applied for a short term major medical plan here in Colorado and got denied due to depression meds which we were not expecting.

Are there any other options we can explore to ensure she has some sort of major medical until she is covered under her new job's plan? I know obamacare open enrollment is currently open through the 15th so would it be possible to apply for one of the plans and have it terminate on Feb 1 due to a "job change" when she goes on her own insurance?
