My childhood friend just inherited a little over a million dollars after her mom passed away. She also inherited her childhood home that is costing a fortune in repairs. Her mother was in her 90s and had dementia. Between all of the money she has to put into the house and other bills she recently found out that her mom owed, the money is going quickly. She is 50 years old and is newly divorced. Her 20 year old daughter lives with her. She can’t work or drive because of an accident she had about a year ago and now has seizures pretty frequently. She just had a seizure while I was on the phone with her and it was horrifying! I live 8 hours away so I couldn’t do anything to help her. She begged me not to call 911 because she didn’t have health insurance and the last time she had to go to the emergency room, it cost her over $10,000. Her daughter is going to school and just got a job as a nanny. They both need health insurance. They live in Indiana. She said she tried to go through healthcare.gov but couldn’t get approved. Can someone please give advice on what her options are?
