I'm reading conflicting opinions on these two so I'm hoping for a little clarification. I moved to the US a few years ago knowing full well that health insurance would be an issue, and I'm still learning.

I was originally with United Healthcare, they chose my PCP and then wouldn't cover my pre-exisiting condition. I currently have a Florida Blue Silver plan HMO and I love the clinic and doctors I am currently using; they have all been fantastic. But my premiums are going up, way up. It looks like Ambetter has a Gold plan EPO with lower premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket max. I usually reach my out-of-pocket early in the year due to my prescription ($8k per dose).

My concern is finding care in my area. Will Ambetter choose my doctor also? It looks like I am also very limited in my choice of specialists in my area (only 2 within 12 miles).

Has anyone used both and what is the quality of care with doctors and specialists accepting Ambetter?
