TLDR: does it really take 6 weeks to process the application through Florida healthy kids (FL CHIP)and can I speed up the process for my medically needy child?? She needs to be seen regularly and has referrals to specialists that need to happen in like the next week or so.

I was just let go from my job. However because I was recently in a car accident and on work provided short term disability, my now former employer is going to continue paying my full salary without benefits until my doctor approves me to go back to work. (One month) So I still have an income. Cobra is $1500+ so it’s not an option for me.

I qualify for marketplace insurance for myself. I haven’t even picked a plan yet it’s so confusing. The marketplace website said that they sent my information to the FL healthy kids insurance. I went to their website (FL healthy kids) and it says it takes approximately 6 weeks to process an application!!! My daughter needs to continue her care like next week. I’ve looked into some private insurance but it’s kind of through the roof is that my only option at this point??
