Extending COBRA coverage by one month

I have Cobra health insurance coverage from my previous employer that will end at the end of November 2025. I've gotten my new insurance card for this year and the payment amount is set for 2025. I know that the law requires Cobra coverage to be available for 18 months but is it at all possible to request that my previous employer extend the coverage for an additional month at the 2025 rate so that I can purchase insurance for 2026 through the ACA and not have to also pay for a new plan for one month (December 2025)? If possible, would I request this from my previous employer's HR department or their insurance provider? If it's not possible and I just didn't get insurance for December (I know it's a risk), would this be considered a non-coverage gap or is one month short enough to not be a problem with setting up a 2026 policy? Could travel insurance be purchased for a trip in December to bridge this gap? Just looking for solutions for the December gap I might have and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
