ENT clinic sent me a reimbursement check for overpayment even though I already got back the money from AMEX. What should I do with the check?

I overpaid a couple thousand dollars upfront to this clinic for a surgery. When insurance finished processing the claim, they determined I was responsible for thousands less than what I paid. Even after the clinic received the EOB basically detailing that I overpaid, they kept giving me the runaround. “We need to wait on this check from insurance, we need them to reprocess one of your post op claims first, blah blah blah”. Then they said once that was resolved, it would take 30 days for me to get a check by mail and there was no other method of reimbursement available. I got sick of it and submitted a partial dispute with AMEX for the amount I was owed. They issued a chargeback the next week. I finally got a check in the mail from the clinic for some of what I was owed (nowhere near the full amount). Seems like they aren’t even aware of the chargeback.

Should I just destroy the check, send it back, or report it to someone? I’m definitely not cashing it.

Thanks for any advice!
