Enrollment should company mess up my company enrollment.

Hello,

I currently find myself in a strange situation.

I just lost my job, but I am in my severance period. My insurance will continue until the end of my severance period sometime in late winter 2024, according to my severance agreement.

My company, a big mega company, has been having issues with the software that enrolls you in its insurance. I used the website to enroll and got the receipt with my signature stating enrollment is complete printed out in a pdf. I found out later, by accident, that the enrollment was not finished somehow, and I was not signed up for 2024. This was after the enrollment window had closed. I called HR several times, and they re-enrolled me. They had to do this twice because the system kept stating that my enrollment was incomplete somehow. They assured me the last time that I am indeed enrolled for 2024.

I am concerned, when 2024 rolls around, and it turns out the system glitched out again, that I will not have insurance after all. I do not trust their system.

If this happens, what can I do to obtain health insurance?

Would I be able to make use of the "lost health insurance" or "lost job" exception to enroll in a health plan in a special enrollment?

Is it a good idea to go ahead and enroll in the healthcare.gov in Dec 2023, even though that might be duplicative?
