Employee wants off plan immediately

I own a very small (under 10 people) business. The only people on our plan have been my wife, myself and our kids for the past several years. It's been at least five since we had an employee that wanted on our plan. TBH I didn't realize just how bad rates had gotten for us until this occurred but we have an employee who wanted coverage. Our insurance agent didn't tell her the rates, he just signed her up. She was shocked when she found out how expensive the plan was. Her half is basically double what a comparable plan would be in full on the exchange. I was also shocked to see we could get the ultra premium plan on the exchange and get significantly better coverage than we have now, plus dental for the kids, and our family would save $800 per month since we pay both sides of the coverage as the owners.

I have a call scheduled with my agent to discuss but he's already told the employee she is basically SOL until January. I think from reading some other threads that might be true but since I don't really trust what he's going to say I'd love to get information from anyone else if they have tips or options for us.
