Do I count as my own household? And do I need an ID?
So I just want to make sure I haven’t messed up the application by accident, I don’t pay taxes and am not filed as a tax dependent to my knowledge, so I filled it out as me being the only one in my household since when I looked it up that’s what it said I fell under from my understanding. But I do live with other people, who are unrelated to me, and they do provide food and a place for me to stay since I currently can’t provide those things for myself. Am I still considered my own household for Medicaid?
And also one more important question: do I need an ID to get insurance? I do not currently have one and am in a uniquely frustration situation where it doesn’t seem like I can get one until at least 5 or 6 months from now, when I can get my name legally changed. This is because for some reason the last name on my SS# and birth certificate are different, and they won’t fix it. And I can’t get my name changed until I’ve lived in the state/county I’m in for at least a year. I’ve been here almost 7 months.
I can wait if I have to, but it would suck, and there are things I need done that I can’t do unless I have insurance because I can’t afford to just pay for them.
I haven’t had health insurance in at least a couple of years and I’m struggling to understand how things work and to get what I need. I tried to file for a Food Assistance Program a few months ago and had to get so much info about everyone else here and then was denied because I couldn’t provide proof of a bunch of their stuff in time. It would be so much simpler if I just counted as my own household…
