Disclosing Marijuana Use To Doctor In Relation To Health Insurance

Just need some advice as I have been looking online and can’t really get a clear answer anywhere.

I have had a consistent on and off flu / viral infection for months (constant phlegm) and finally am looking at going to a pcp to get a further check up done including blood tests and a possible x ray of my lungs, etc.

I use Marijuana and Vape daily. I am in a state that has legal recreational use.

I want to disclose this to my doctor as this could be important information as to what has been going on with my health.

Seems easy enough right? Tell the doctor and get treatment.

Now the problem, I am on one of my parents insurance through their work place. My parents do not know about my habits and likely didn’t disclose this use when signing me up as a dependent on their insurance. (My parent didn’t ask when signing me up if I smoke so I am not sure if this question is even asked by employers when signing up with company insurance)

If I tell my doctor that I smoke marijuana, it shows up in my blood tests, and the health problems I have could be explained to be caused by or at least partially related to me smoking, will my parents insurance be affected? There are a lot of health factors at play for them as well and ruining anything regarding their health coverage would be devasting for them and make me feel like a complete piece of trash.

I understand the options to be:

disclose marijuana use and hope it doesnt affect insurance (or hope that my health issues aren’t justifiably related to smoking)

put off the doctors visit

lie to the doctor about the marijuana use (dumb and pointless)

tell my parents that I smoke and ask them to update this with their insurance policy at work

The only problem with the last option is that my parents are doing this for me as a favor (keeping me on their insurance) so to ask them to increase the amount we pay for insurance as well as disclose to their work place that one of the members on the policy uses marijuana would be kind of selfish and a lot for them as they do not use marijuana at all and are semi against it.

Are these my only 4 options and am I correct in having a concern that disclosing my recreational marijuana use could have the potential of getting my family dropping from their employers insurance?
