Deciding between UHC HDHP or Choice Plus PPO

Hey everyone,

I just started a job recently, and I'm trying to figure out which healthcare plan to get. I've narrowed it down between the UHC Choice Plus PPO plan and the UHC HDHP. For reference, I'm 22 and generally healthy, however, I'm planning on getting a Septoplasty surgery for my deviated septum in January or February. I'm also going to start seeing a psychiatrist in October for anxiety. I make 88k a year before taxes, and I live in California.

The biweekly payment on the choice plus is $214, and the payment is $52 for the HDHP. Now, I've been told that it's a good idea to go with an HDHP and just contribute the deductible amount to an HSA. I did the math, and this would actually save me about $1k each year. However, my big concern is that I wouldn't have enough money saved for the psychiatrist and surgery early next year. I could be completely cooked if the surgeon hands over a bill of several thousand dollars. If I go with the Choice Plus, it's a ton of money per paycheck. Anyone have any advice for what I should do? If I go with the Choice Plus, I'll probably switch to an HDHP after a year assuming everything starts to smooth out. I get the Choice Plus is probably the safest option, but I don't really know if I should spend that much money on it if the HDHP is a better option.
