Covered California

I am FUMING right now so here's my rant….

Just got a $4500 bill for unpaid premiums from covered California for a medical plan that I cancelled back in January?!?! I cancelled that plan because I got covered by my employer. How did I know my plan was cancelled, you might ask? Bc I called and told them I got covered by my employer and asked them to cancel it AND they said okay it's cancelled then I NEVER received a bill. I cancelled it during the time period that they allow you to make changes… Not one bill came until today, now they're saying I owe for January through October… 4500 mf dollars?!? Where were the monthly bills?!?!? They never sent one!!!! Istg our government is screwing us so hard. Make it make sense!!! They force you to have insurance to avoid being fined at the end of the year so I did that, I followed their rules. I did exactly what I'm supposed to do according to their rules and now this??

I just got the letter today, I tried calling but of course it's outside their business hours. I can't afford to pay that, I never used the plan, and I had cancelled the damn thing. I'm so upset right now.
