Copay payment demanded over the phone

My husband saw a specialist that we’ve seen as a family for years. Usually these are in-person visits. However he did a virtual visit this last time. Hours later he got a phone call asking for the copayment over the phone. I was in the car with him at the time and could hear the call as well. He said he was driving and asked for the bill to be sent via email so he could pay it later. He was told they needed the payment that day as it’s standard for copays. He said that he can pay it today, however please send us the bill, he’s not going to pull the car over to pay. They said they could not do that. In an effort to just get it over with, he asked me to read out the card number for them so we could just end the call. But as soon as we hung up I got livid. I feel so stupid that we allowed this person to convince us to pay that moment. We had no way of knowing who we just gave our card number to! Also I call bs that they aren’t able to text or email an itemized bill. I receive them all the time. I want to speak to the practice manager to let them know this was badgering and irrational of them to expect, however I am not interested in changing practices. My kids see this doctor as well, and I’m happy with her otherwise. What would you do?
