Summary:
I resigned from former employer on 03/15/22 and requested they cancel my medical coverage with UHC.

I started new job at new company with Aetna Insurance coverage on 03/16/22.

I went to many physicians from 03/16/22 through 04/30/22 using my Aetna coverage.

In July 2023, Aetna advises me that all my previously approved claims are being sent to UHC as my primary insurance plan.

My UHC Coverage was minimal and not all my Aetna providers are in the plan

Worked with former employer and UHC to cancel my UHC insurance which was incorrectly extended through 12/30/22.

UHC refuses to retroactively cancel my coverage

All my claims were sent back to Aetna by my medical providers to see if they would cover me (again) as may primary medical insurer.

Claims which were submitted after the UHC extension have also been denied.

I received notice today that Aetna has denied all my claims.

I have been working with the department of labor in rectifying the situation. I am also working with a non-profit in NYC to write my appeals letter to Aetna. I have my record of coverage document from Aetna.

Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Can anyone speak to why UHC will not retroactively cancel my coverage? Everything was fine for a year and then in July 2023, my claims started to be sent to UHC by my medical provider.

How is my previous employer NOT liable for any of this mess? I am very frustrated. I now owe approx $50,000. I had shoulder surgery during this time frame.
