Coordination of benefits for non insurance?

Hey there,

I have been getting some claims “needing review” from my employer insurance and stating that my hospital says I have other coverage and I need to do a COB. When I have any remaining balances from my deductible, that are related to a crime I was the victim of, the remainder of the bill is sent to a state Crime Victim agency.

I looked into it a few months ago when I was first flagged and everything I read online stated I was fine. I even tried to submit ‘other coverage’ on their form but it asked for insurance plans, Medicaid or medical. So I submitted no other coverage.

I got flagged again recently, and spoke to a representative on the phone and she said I didn’t need to do a coordination of benefits since the crime victims coverage is not insurance.

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone’s dealt with anything like this before or knows for sure that I’m doing this correctly? Even my hospital, who initially I would send the bills to the crime victims org instead of having them bill them directly, stated it’s not something that’s super common and I noticed they listed the crime victims under other coverage on my profile so that’s probably causing the confusion.
