confused by an email I received from customer service

So my health insurance plan is high deductible of $6,900. I'm trying to go to the dermatologist next month for a basic body check up. I emailed my insurance company asking them what my copay would be because the office couldn't tell me and insurance documents with benefit explanations confuse me so much.

The response I got was as follows:

"Thank you for your email. You have selected a high deductible plan with a $6,900 deductible. There is no copay for office visits. Office visits are subjected to your plans deductible first, meaning you will be responsible for the full amount until you have reached your deductible, once your deductible has been met, we will pay 100% of covered services for the remainder of the plan year."

Does that mean I have to spend $6,900 of my own money every year to see doctors and then after that my insurance kicks in? That's insane. What's the point of paying my $300 insurance bill every month then, if I have to pay out of my own pocket so much every year anyway to see doctors?
