I'm in Colorado and need help making sure I don't lose my medicaid or don't lose it for very long. I have a one time divorce settlement check that I need to deposit before it expires. I earn about $300 a month and also receive aid for the Needy and Disabled and SNAP. I know I will lose the AND and SNAP until I am eligible again, and that is fine. I'm insulin dependent so losing medicaid for more than a month or two is not an option at this time.

I contacted the county human services and the person who called me back was supposed to be a specialist. They didn't know that there was a resource limit for medicaid. They suggested I Google the requirements, deposit the check, and then "go with the flow." I also contacted the state and never heard back.

What I need to know is this: 1. Is there a spend down time I have to use the settlement money before my benefits are effected?

Are there any rules regarding how I can spend the money?

If I were to purchase an RV to live in would that be considered a residence or a vehicle?

What else do I need to be aware of?
