Cobra vs marketplace based on my situation…

So I left my job in June due to anxiety…will likely take a few months or possibly the rest of the year off then will go back to my field of work in January. I am trying to decide on Cobra (medical-$525/mo, dental-$43/mo; I’ve met my deductible & OOP) I don’t foresee any major medical other than a few chiropractor visits & 1 teeth cleaning. I am 57 years old…net pay this year so far is $31k….i live in Montana. Or…find an insurance on the Marketplace, something I have never done. I started the enrollment today & am going to start digging into this tomorrow. I’m torn between Cobra & the ease of simply continuing previous insurance (& perhaps $525/mo is reasonable?)…or finding something basic on the Marketplace mainly to cover anything catastrophic ($300/mo?). Any insights would be appreciated before I start digging into the ACA website & insurance options. Who are typically the best insurance providers….Blue Cross/Blue Shield…Kaiser?? I may ultimately end up doing contract work so may just end up enrolling on the marketplace at the 1st of the year regardless. I wouldn’t want to carry Cobra long-term.
Thanks!
