Cigna Healthcare giving me the runaround for a foreign claim reimbursement?

I received medical treatment in Mexico. The day after I arrived in the States, I submitted a claim for reimbursement.

The day after I submitted the claim, I called them asking them if the documents I submitted were enough or if they needed more details. They said they were enough.

I called 27 days after submitting the claim and they told me to call back in 3 days because claim processing can take up to 30 days.

I called 3 days later, and they said they don’t see a claim on my profile (despite me getting a confirmation email). They sent a link where I can re-upload the documents and I did. No response after 2 weeks.

I called them and they said they don’t see a record of anything on my profile, that they’re gonna re-submit a claim and could take up to 30 business days again. I asked for a confirmation email or something in writing and the lady said she can’t provide it.

I have a strong feeling 30 business days will go through and I won’t have a response either.

Do you think they could be this embarrassingly incompetent? Or could they be acting in bad faith?

Any advice on what to do besides getting legal representation? Is this something I should make my employer aware of?
