Cigna constantly dropping the ball; rage

TL;DR What are my options on contacting someone higher up in Cigna or a Better Business Bureau kind of situation because we are getting screwed over by these guys.

My wife is on my Cigna insurance from my employer. She was added after we got married and didn’t have to use it for maybe 6 months, but she was getting denied at the doctors office.

Long story short on that, they(Cigna) added her to my plans but never activated her coverage. Completely moronic to me; why would you issue her medical insurance cards and all that jazz and not ACTIVATE her?

Anyway, she worked with the clinic to coordinate with Cigna on re-running her insurance so we don’t have these crazy bills to pay. It’s been close to a year and we are still getting goofy bills that are saying “payment was denied by CIGNA SAR, indicating patient was not covered on the date of service.” This is showing up even on recent doctor visits.

The kicker in all this is that Cigna is no longer responding to our clinic reaching out to them for answers as to what’s going on with these claims. So we are basically making small payments just to keep it from going to collections or anything like that.

What would our options even be for something like this? Aside from getting a lawyer involved, we have no idea who we would even contact outside of our clinic and calling Cigna(pointless), and my benefits contact from my employer just did their part and verified she’s covered now, but apparently that’s not correct.
