Cigna – Active with No Coverage

Hi folks, this has been a saga but let's keep it short and sweet:

I was hospitalized on December 25th, 2024

I had follow ups in January 2025

On January 2nd the Cigna portal said there was no coverage for me, and my employer could not log in to their portal.

January 6th both me and my HR lead called Cigna to see what was up, as I had an appointment the next day

We were both separately advised to use last year's card and Cigna would take care of things on their end

Later I received a bill for $60 from a provider. When I went to pay it a few days later it was $800. When I called they informed me the bill was sent assuming Cigna coverage, but Cigna did not pay out.

Cigna admitted there was a major system issue on their end and they'd reprocess the claim.

Now what is essentially happening is me and my coworkers are all active with no coverage. We get the Cigna discount, but Cigna does not pay out, leaving us responsible for 100s and even 1000s of dollars while we and our employer continue to pay Cigna monthly.

My HR department is working with our brokers and Cigna to figure out what the hell is going on but that's not going well

In talking to a friend who has a different employer but also uses Cigna, she mentioned she also had gotten an unusually high bill and when she double checked her EOB realized she also was given the Cigna discount without any payout happening.

Is anyone else with Cigna also experiencing issues in getting them to process 2025 claims?
