I just sent a letter to appeal termination of coverage for non payment for cobra.

My husband changed jobs which left us without insurance for July. I have done medical problems and we elected cobra coverage for myself only.

There was no option to enroll online and the form did not specify the cost for the premium for spouse only so I wasn’t able to sent payment at that time. For spouse only all communication had to be by mail.

Fast forward I realize I haven’t made a payment yet and it’s getting close to the 45 days timeline. I log in to his old benefit account portal and live chat the agent (not sure why I never thought to do this prior) where in informed that there was a separate online account created for me and since I didn’t submit payment my coverage was terminated.

I never received any letters or emails requesting payment or stating the amount or where to even send it.

They say they sent two letters by mail and two emails and have my correct information, but I honestly never received them.

Now I have about 15k in medical bills and submitted an appeal to request they let me pay the premium for July 23 & cover me, but I’m feeling a bit hopeless.

Anyone been through this before? Any advice? I realize it’s he said/she said so I’m not feeling too hopeful.
