Can’t afford individual health insurance, frequent and chronic health issues, don’t qualify for disability (no Medicare.) Now what?

I live in New York. I juggle multiple chronic health issues and I have a history of a rare cancer which I continue to get monitored for. The cheapest Gold plan in my area cost over $1,000/month.

I don’t qualify for Medicare. I’m 31 and I have almost no work history due to health issues that have prevented me from working. I don’t qualify for SSDI because I don’t have sufficient social security credits and SSDI would have given me Medicare. I have no living parents (died of cancer too). There was a chance I could have gotten social security using survivor benefits, but my then legal guardian never filed anything and I don’t have sufficient documentation to prove I’ve had these conditions since I was a teen. Some of my conditions are very rare and I didn’t get a formal diagnosis until I was 25 which also didn’t help my case.

I live off limited life insurance proceeds my father left me. I live in New York and I often qualify for Medicaid based on my income. However, my taxable income this year due to higher interest rates will make it so I don’t qualify and I might not get any subsidy at all if rates continue to go up. I’m getting kicked off Medicaid in a couple months.

I live in New York. With my frequent health issues, a low deductible health plan with a lower maximum out of pocket would cost me the least. The cheapest available plan I see is a Fidelis Plan that costs over $1,000/month. I can’t afford that, but I also can’t afford not to have usable health insurance. I’m still being actively treated.

What do I do?
