Can this be right? I have plenty of money and I’m eligible for Medicaid?
I worked for almost ten continuous years and toward the end of it had a six-figure salary and employer-sponsored health insurance.
I quit my job because I was feeling burned out. During the first month thereafter (September) I actually had some work (a small amount of per-hour, contract work), but wasn’t immediately paid for that work due to a dispute over my invoice. During the following month (October) I applied on the New York State of Health exchange and accurately put down my estimated annual income (six figures) and the previous month’s income ($ 0, since, I figured, although I had sent out an invoice I hadn’t actually received any money). I was determined eligible for Medicaid effective November 1 (and I selected a Medicaid Managed Care plan and received a card).
I finally got paid for my invoice (as well as a subsequent invoice, as I’ve continued to get some work), and just went on New York State of Health and updated my information. I reported thousands of dollars of income for the month of October.
However, the exchange is telling me “You are no longer eligible for Medicaid. However we will continue your Medicaid coverage. This is because certain individuals determined eligible for Medicaid remain eligible for benefits for twelve continuous months from the date that they were determined eligible.”
Can this be right? I’m still going to get Medicaid??
