Can someone help me understand what the pharmacist told me about my Medicaid insurance? I have severe phone anxiety, and want to better understand the issue before I call again.

Sorry if this is lame. Calling anyone gives me bad anxiety, and it helps if I know what to say before I call, but I'm confused by what just happened.

I have Medicaid coverage. In my state (NH), I get a state Medicaid card with a number, and I also choose an insurance provider (Amerihealth Caritas for me) with it's own member number. (though the member card includes both the state number and their own number)

I had transferred my prescription to RiteAid a few months ago, filled a prescription and gave them my Amerihealth card, and refilled the prescription with no problem, cost 100% covered.

I recently sent in a refill request and got a message that they needed my insurance info. So, I called, and the pharmacist said, "The state says you have a primary insurance, and you have to use that. You can call the state and have that removed." Or something like that.

Huh? Do they mean the state thinks I have another insurance provider (I don't)? Did RiteAid maybe use my state number instead of the Amerihealth number? Would that make a difference?

I obviously can't call the state on the weekend, but is it possible that RiteAid did something wrong, and I should call them back?

Again, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I get so nervous talking on the phone, I don't know what to say, or what questions to ask.
