Can I sue my insurance company for cancelling my coverage without prior notice?

Long story short, I'm on a medical leave and my health insurance company Alight was overcharging me for my insurance over $1K due to an admitted admin error (I have in writing). Since late May I've been working with their customer care team to correct my bill.

Mid-June, I was directed by an agent to pay $x for April, $x for May and to WAIT on paying for June until I received a call back from their team to resolve the issue. I never received a call/voicemail, only an update that "my ticket was closed." When I received this update, I went to look at my bill and the extra charges were still there.

I had a colonoscopy scheduled for July 5, and my doctor's office confirmed with my insurance I had coverage on July 1. On July 2, the insurance company ended my coverage without my knowledge or any prior notice. I went in for my colonoscopy – fully prepped – only to be told I no longer had insurance.

Do I have a case to fight back this company for ending my coverage without any prior knowledge, causing me the emotional and physical distress of missing my procedure, and knowing I am not currently covered? The only reason I didn't pay for June was because I was instructed to not pay until it was resolved – I have this agent's name, too. I would've paid for June as I was already paying the amount I owed for the other months, just not the extra costs that were an error. If the call were recorded back in mid-June, it would hear me say "I want to make sure I'm paying for my insurance, I just don't want to pay for these extra charges."
