I just received a new explanation of benefits and it's for a claim for my child getting a Covid test in October of 2021. TEN months ago. When cases were rising in my area and he needed a formal test before he could go back to school. They paid the claim. Today I get a bill for this claim in the amount of $496 dollars that I'm responsible for. For one drive up covid test. I'm so upset and disappointed. And this is the second time they've done this to me now. They also sent me a bill a month ago for an office visit from August 2021. Luckily that one was only for an additional $60. Customer service tells me that they are doing "auditing" and can do that anytime they wish. I guess I should expect more bills from all the other years I've had them too. I wish I could stop being so sad and angry but $500 is a lot and even though I filled out the grievance form, I know I'll end up having to pay it. And I have a $3000 deductible right off top every year so that my premiums aren't $350 every paycheck. I just wish healthcare in the US was different. It feels easier to just never go to the doctor. I'm so sorry for anyone with a chronic condition and crappy insurance. Thanks for reading.
