Called and confirmed twice in writing and via phone with insurance that my doctor was in network, doctor receptionist keeps angrily telling me they are not
So I have Harvard Pilgrim insurance through my Boston-based employer but I live in Texas. Basically, if I’m out of New England they bill through United Healthcare and last time I went to a different doctor that’s what they did and they were in-network and everything was covered.
Well I’m seeing my primary care doctor and I called Harvard to confirm a few weeks ago they were in-network to which they said yes they are. They even sent me a document confirming they are and just as a file to have in writing. Now I call my primary care doctor and give them my insurance info, and am faced with the rudest and most unhelpful receptionist ever (seriously are they all like this??? Mine always are). She straight up says NO we don’t take their insurance. I tell her Harvard confirmed they do and I also have a document saying they do. She continues to push back. I say I will call my insurance back. I call my insurance back and once again they confirm they are in-network but because they are outside New England they will have to bill through United Healthcare. They also give me a number on the back of my card the receptionist can call to clarify this and explain how it works for out of New England if they are not familiar with the process.
I call the receptionist BACK with this info, explain the misunderstanding, which she responds NO. WE DONT TAKE YOUR INSURANCE. I tell her I have this number she can call to connect with Harvard to clear things up to which she just responds. “No.”
NO? Im literally doing your job for you??? She makes zero effort to work with me and I’m trying to be polite and helpful and she is so lazy. Literally what do I do here people? At this point I’m just going to try to call tomorrow hoping I get a different receptionist but should I call my insurance and ask them to call her??? Should I ask to speak to my doctor? Like I’m so frustrated and I don’t want to find another doctor.
