(Ca) Not reporting income change on Covered Ca. Should have been on MediCal.

I’m not sure of the consequences of my situation so coming to you for advice.

I was on unemployment and that ended 09/2021. I was enrolled in Covered Ca during that time with unemployment being my only income. That provided me with enough credits and subsidies that it cost me $1 a month for Blue Shield silver. Filing my taxes for 2021 was fine. Received a small refund for overestimating my projected income.

I tried to update my income change after my unemployment ended, but somehow could only enter a future date so I never actually ended up updating my now income of $0.

So 2022 begins and I never entered my new income of $0 and left it at the previous 24k a year (assuming I would get a job at some point this year). It automatically renewed and I kept the same Blue Shield ins through Covered Ca. I decided to try and finally update my income the other day using a future end date for my unemployment and they now say I’m eligible for Medi Cal bc my low income.

I got a call from the county asking about my income for my Medi Cal application and told her my unemployment ended Sept 2021 and I have a projected income of 4K for self employment this year.

Will I get in trouble for not reporting my income when I obviously should have been on Medi Cal beginning this Jan? Will I have to pay the credits back?

Looking back I obviously regret this, but just trying my best to fix it now. Any insights or advice would be much appreciated.
