Birthing hospital just went out of network/continuity of care

Found out last week that the hospital I’m giving birth at (I’m due in 2.5 weeks) just went out of network. I’ve submitted a continuity of care form to insurance (everything I’ve read and that my OB practice has said is that I qualify due to end of pregnancy), but as of today insurance company said they hadn’t even received it yet so it’s been a big headache of me calling every day to check on it’s status, being told multiple different numbers to fax it to, etc.

What happens if I go into labor in the next few days before the form gets approved? I’m terrified of this possibility and then being charged out of network when I’ve literally done everything I can as soon as I was notified about this to get things taken care of. Nobody has been able to tell me (insurance company or OB office) what happens if I go into labor while it’s in limbo.

Can these things work retroactively in cases like this? Any experience or insight into this? It’s a high risk pregnancy and I have a scheduled induction so it wouldn’t be simple to change providers when I’m so close to delivering.
