Billed over out of pocket max
Hi I have cancer and have been getting bills left and right. I’ve been charged over $7000 of expenses just from one hospital even though my out of pocket max is $4500. I was told on my second to last bill on my hospital portal that I reached my out of pocket max and wouldn’t be charged anymore. Well today my doctor tells me I need another scan and they want to charge me another $150. Registration called me within minutes of when it was booked to collect payment. Then I talked to billing who said they couldn’t help me with my out of pocket max questions but apparently I was overcharged 1850 for one test so they can refund that now since I asked. So then I get transferred over to financial counseling but it’s a recording and no one ever calls me back. I’m so lost and confused and I get that claims take a while to process but why do I keep being charged more upfront? It’s like I have to spent $30,000 upfront to get treatment and then maybe they’ll refund me when they feel like it or until I call and harass them. This is so frustrating!!! On top of all this I am dealing with a lot of work stress and serious health issues! This is not helping my case!
