I'm located in NYC and currently, I have Healthfirst. I've found a new psychiatrist that doesn't accept health first. My choices are fidelis , metroplus and emblem. From what I was reading, fidelis isn't very good and requires referrals to see doctors, etc. Emblem health seems to be taken by all my doctors and I'm unsure if this is true but from what I was reading from another post on here they cover medication prescribed by out-of-network doctors. So if I see my old psychiatrist that doesn't accept insurance they will still pay for the medication? Currently with health first, they only cover medication prescribed by in-network doctors associated with Medicaid. If emblem health does cover out of network prescribed meds that would be a huge change for me. I've been having issues getting proper mental health treatment because of this since all the doctors are not very helpful. Literally been to over a dozen psychiatrists in the past 5-7 years.

Also, how do I go about switching plans? Do I have to go downtown to the Medicaid office to deal with this or can this be done online or over the phone?
