BCBS FLORIDA BLUE PLAN – don’t live in FL
We are considering switching from my employer based plan (large employer, excellent healthcare. I am considering ending employment for various reasons) to a health care plan offered by my husbands employer (small employer, based in FL. My husband works fully remote in NYC.)
The plan offered my husbands employer is called FLORIDA BLUE through Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
I have started to contact our doctors in NYC to see if they 1) accept and 2) are in-network.
So far it seems most accept and at least one is in-network.
How is a NYC based practice in network for a plan called Florida Blue?
I contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield for help but it is difficult to get factual information vs opinion since I don't have any real plan information. I believe it is a PPO plan. It *might* be an EPO plan.
Husband employer is very small so they do not have an HR department so we don't have much assistance through the company on getting additional healthcare plan information without being on the actual plan.
Some of his colleagues are on the plan, but they are residents on FL. The other remote employees are not on the plan.
Does anyone have experience with this and can explain it to me like I am five?
