Anthem giving my father the run around? what can i do?

Hello All,

I hope this message finds you well. I am seeking advice on a situation I've never encountered before regarding my father's healthcare.

For over a year now, my father has been attempting to see a doctor through his Anthem HMO Medicare plan. Despite making 6-7 appointments with various providers, each one has either been canceled or postponed due to "emergencies" on the day of the appointment. The waiting period between appointments ranges from 1-2 months, further delaying his access to necessary care.

Most recently, my father had an appointment this morning, which we attended together due to his increasing mobility issues. Unfortunately, the doctor canceled again, citing an emergency—this being the second time with the same provider. This has been a consistent pattern with different physicians, leading to a year of canceled appointments. My father’s condition continues to deteriorate without proper care, which is extremely concerning.

After contacting the insurance company today, they managed to schedule the next available appointment in three days, following a complaint I lodged. However, their only resolution was to file a grievance. It is frustrating that while my father continues to pay for his insurance, he has not received adequate medical attention due to repeated cancellations.

If the upcoming appointment is canceled again, I feel I have no option but to wait until October 15th, when we can switch to a new health insurance provider. While I am considering legal action due to the impact on my father’s health, I understand that this may be a complex and time-consuming process and may not even go anywhere.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance on how to handle this situation moving forward.
