Aetna VS. UHC for Diabetic Supplies

Hello all,

I was diagnosed in May with diabetes. It’s been quite the journey, however, one of the hardest parts has been my insurance not covering my dexcom g7 and libre 3. Libre 2 did not work for me so I tried dexcom and loved it! I have BCBS NC State Health Plan (I am a teacher). My diabetes was very uncontrolled, but is more stable now. Insurance has been refusing to cover dexcom g7 because I am not on insulin and now won’t cover the libre 3 either. The only thing my insurance covers is my one touch verio monitor (finger stick) with test strips and lancets.

I left teaching in June and my current BCBS NC State Health Plan expires August 30th. I am looking at Aetna Gold 4 and some United Health Care plans moving forward. My Endo has been supplying my dexcom g7 until my new insurance kicks in which I am grateful for.

My question is in your experience what has been the most diabetic friendly insurance? Anyone use Atena or UHC? If so are you able to get your my CGM covered and which on were you pproved for?

Any information helps! Thanks so much for your time❤️
