Hi, I got my iud from planned parenthood in January (January 5th). I went to them, showed them my health insurance card and confirmed with them that my card covers the iud. 10 days later I had to go back because my IUD was botched (it expelled within a day). I come back and explain to them it is an emergency and I’m in a lot of physical pain. Once again I confirm with them that my insurance (Aetna) covers the iud. Fast forward to today, almost 9 months later I got an email saying I owe my insurance 1.2k. This came out of nowhere. I check the statement and the statement was sent on 8/28/24, but I got the email only today. I’m a college student who can not pay at all. I did everything that was necessary to ensure I wouldn’t have to pay. I feel so defeated because of how hard it was to get my iud (getting it inserted twice in less than 2 weeks because of the mistakes of planned parenthood). I plan on calling my insurance tomorrow as soon as I wake up. What else should I do? Important info regarding insurance: Aetna open access plan, (family insurance by employer) I’m 20, from NYC
