Aetna EOB (dental) says You do not have to pay this”

I have a Dental DMO through Aetna (originally from employer, now on COBRA since a layoff). I selected a dentist through Aetna’s website, making sure to find a specific In-Network provider. I started Invisalign Comprehensive, which the original insurance estimate said would cover 50%. For the remainder, the dental office has me on a payment plan. I put down $2k upfront and I’m paying $225/month until the ~$3200 is paid off.

The Aetna EOB says the claim was denied, but it also says my share is $0 and states “You do not have to pay this. This dentist is not contracted to provide this service for DMO/DNO members. [RVRC – C85].”

I’m concerned that either a) I’ll be on the hook for the full amount since the claim was denied OR b) that I’m being improperly billed for services on which I don’t owe anything. I have the original paperwork from the dental office listing the estimated amount and my payment plan. This is in Colorado. Thanks for any help!
