I am starting a new state government job and I have to choose between an HMO, Open Access Plan, Consumer Driven Health Plan with an HSA and high deductible, and Quality Care plan. The details can be found here: https://cms.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/cms/benefits/stateemployee/documents/fy2024/24_SEGIP_ADA_041123%20A11Y%202023.4.16%20.pdf

I see a therapist once every week, sometimes every two weeks. I see a specialist about once a month for follow up care that should continue for about a year. Otherwise, I’m generally pretty healthy and not accident prone. My therapist, specialist and PCP all accept pretty much all major healthcare plans.

The HSA Consumer Driven plan with an HSA account looks pretty appealing, but I’d definitely have to meet the $1,500 deductible with all the therapy appointments.

HMO would be good because it’s only flat copays, but anything out of network will be denied, although I don’t think I’d need to go out of network in normal circumstances.

Any advice on which plan would be good given my circumstances would be greatly appreciated.
