Acupuncture costs suddenly not covered

I live in MN and visited a chiropractic clinic that also offers acupuncture. I decided to start getting acupuncture in addition to my chiropractic services. I checked with the clinic and they told me they accept my health insurance, as well as checking with my health insurance which told me they cover acupuncture services as long as it is done by a state-certified acupuncturist. I told my acupuncturist this and he assured me that he was indeed state-certified. At one point I was getting three acupuncture sessions per week (per his recommendation) and now the clinic called me and told me my health insurance will not cover this and I'm stuck with a $3,000 bill. The billing company who works as the middle man told me it is because the acupuncturist is not included in the clinic's network. I do not get health services unless I am SURE they will be covered by my insurance because I cannot afford the outrageous out-of-pocket costs. Do I have any protection here since I did my due diligence in trying to assure that these services would be covered, and both the clinic and my health insurance company told me they would be?
