I heard that it can take up to 6 weeks to get the SSN. That's what my sister said and she had 4 kids.

I was thinking of getting a copy of the birth certificate and applying for an SSN at the SSA office instead of waiting for tht hospital to put the paperwork through for a quicker turn around.

Because I am a planner. I plan for things early to minimize extra work I have to do in the future. Everything will be all set and go.

My issue is that because my wife has Medicaid and CHAMPVA.

How do I avoid doing claims for doctors that charge for my son? I won't have a SSN number first week or two, but I also don't want to go behind everything and start to put out manual paper claims in everytime I go see a doctor.

I am going to be charged prepaid or denied health care for not having active insurance. I really don't know how all this works.

Medicaid is aoat immediately after I get the SSN, but ChampVA takes it's sweet time to enroll and they are usually first to be billed.
