35w pregnant and insurance no longer covers provider

Hi,

Im currently 35w pregnant. My insurance is blue shield and my OB and hospital to give birth (and the pediatrician for my kids but that’s less urgent) are part of the Stanford medical group. My insurance announced Wednesday that since the Saturday BEFORE they no longer cover this medical group.

To add: I’m new in the US and this – pardon me – insane system.

Since I’m pregnant I’m eligible to continue my current treatment BUT I have to fill out a form and then it will take 5-7 business days until I get a confirmation. I need to include info from my health provider and documents that I don’t have on hand. So essentially I have to expect it will take two weeks until I can go to my doctor again? At this stage in pregnancy that’s way too long. There are several appointments and tests scheduled within that time frame and I’m actually concerned for my and babys safety.

I have been unable to find an OBGYN that takes over asap – I have an appointment scheduled for August 1! But I was able to register for birth at a different hospital.

So my question is essentially, how is this legal and what can I do? Should I go to my scheduled appointments next week without the official approval of continued care?
