Installing the Recall Remedy Kit: Clek Foonf and Fllo

Car Seats For The Littles

The Recall

Clek’s Foonf and Fllo convertible car seats were part of a recall because loose pieces of foam can present a choking hazard to a child, increasing the risk of injury. The remedy is that Clek will provide a molded plastic insert that prevents access to the foam, along with instructions on how to attach it to the child seat, free of charge.

Pro tip: Hang onto your seat’s paper registration form after registering online so that you’ll have quick access to the model number, serial number, and manufacturing date without needing to go out to your vehicle.

Because I’d registered my car seat online, I received an email from the manufacturer letting me know about the recall.  The email had a handy link that let me order the remedy kit.

Next, flip the seat cushion over and remove the fabric from it by wiggling all of the plastic tabs loose. Some were easier to release than others, but they all came off pretty quickly once I got the hang of the technique.

Then, press the plastic insert from the recall kit into the top of the foam seat cushion using the diagram in the instructions to make sure it’s oriented correctly.

Finally, put the fabric back over the foam by putting all the plastic tabs back in place, and reinstall the seat cushion onto your Fllo or Foonf.

The whole process is a little tedious but relatively quick (less than 10 minutes start to finish). While I’ve never had an issue with my child picking at the foam under the Foonf’s seat cushion cover, I’m glad to have a simple and free solution to prevent it from being possible in the future.
