Reap the Benefits of an Electric Vehicle – Without Owning One

Yes, you read that right. Although the benefits you’ll reap aren’t quite the environment-saving ones we need to aspire to, they will make you some tax-free money.

Do you own a home with driveway parking?

If so, we have some good news for you. You could be making up to a grand (tax-free) in passive income, each year, simply by renting out your driveway.

Sounds too good to be true, right?

Well, let us alleviate your scepticism. You may have heard of JustPark before? A company that had the smart idea of allowing homeowners to rent out their private driveways, enabling motorists to park in places where parking is sparse.

Well, they tweeted this, a day ago. If you can’t summon the energy to follow the link (we feel you – there’s a lot to take in on the news these days), see the quote below:

“@JustPark: Calling all driveway & parking space owners across the UK.

Your parking space could earn you an extra £1,000 per year. How? By hosting an #ElectricVehicle driver.

You can read their press release here.

So, how does it work?

It’s called FleetCharge, and as long as you own a private driveway, you can get in on this.

It’s quite simple, really. Allow JustPark to install an EV charger at your property, and then rent out your driveway. This means electric vehicle drivers can charge their motor without any issues of having to go look for one.

You may remember seeing previous posts about the lack of charging points for electric drivers in this country, so this is a good idea. Especially when JustPark seeks to find a nearby charging port within 5 minutes of the driver.

Let’s think about electric vehicles being used for business. The owners of these cars/vans may not have a driveway or place for a charger, so whilst they’re out and about and doing their business, FleetCharge could be a game changer.

Did we mention that all costs are covered by JustPark? That includes installation, daily running costs, and additional electricity charges. We’re down!

What do you reckon? Would you allow an electric charging point to be installed on your private property, and rent out your driveway?
