Teen looking to build her wealth

I’m planning to wait a month to gather as many opinions as possible. I’m an 18-year-old woman looking into life insurance, with my main goal being to maximize returns. I currently have a Roth IRA and a high-yield savings account (HYSA), and my mom has been encouraging me to look into life insurance, so I figured, why not?

I want something with low risk, as I already find investing in my Roth IRA nerve-wracking, especially when stocks go down. I’ll be honest: as a Black woman, I’ve had some doubts about insurance companies, especially with car and home insurance. Many of them seem to be profit-driven, raising premiums or charging fees just to cancel, and sometimes they don’t even pay out when you really need it. So, I’m looking for a life insurance company with a solid reputation—definitely not like Wells Fargo or Chase.

Ideally, I want a low annual premium since I don’t like monthly subscriptions. And if possible, I’d like to see some return on the investment while I’m still alive. Reddit has been incredibly helpful to me in the past—I found Charles Schwab for my bank, Discover for my credit card, and Citi for my savings account thanks to advice here. So, I’m hoping you all can guide me to the best options for life insurance too.

Thank you in advance!
