Policy Approach Advise
Hi-
My profile is as follows:
– mid 30’s male, Never had life insurance previously, looking for a term life plan now
– Used to smoke until quit ~15 years ago, used have used smokeless nicotine more recently, but quit/quitting (would test nicotine free)
– In good shape (exercise 3-4x a week, ran multiple distance races recently, body vitals are all strong)
– Have history of depression in remission, also ADHD, take ritalin, seratonin uptake inhibitor, and mild benzo (as needed) to treat currently. Records indicate “serious depression” but in remission / mild now.
– Previously listed having 10+ drinks a week (in physical 1.5+ years ago)
– No family history of illness (One grandparent died of cancer)
– Latest physical was 1.5+ years ago. To my knowledge I have no bloodwork indicating anything else outside of the above
Questions:
Can I still obtain an MIB record to see what that shows? I have always had insurance through a job, school or COBRA and have never applied for insurance in the past
Will all carriers request medical records beyond the most recent year? Or are there some plans where they only want a years worth of medical records? Can I ensure my current providers only provide a years worth? Will they reach out to providers from the past (e.g., my PCP with a different practice from 5+ years ago)
In terms of tobacco usage, given no record of recent tobacco usage should I declare anything other than my having quit tobacco 10+ years ago?
Is there an easy way to collect all of the records an underwriter would access so I can understand the picture painted?
What decisions should I make / actions should I take ensure I get the highest health rating possible / lock in the best price?
